Upper Peninsula, summer 6 Day Itinerary

in MICHIGAN BY LOCATION

This is a packed trip with many adventures and lots of hiking! We suggest planning lots of rest time in the evenings... Also check out our hiking with kids tips or about our carriers for kids here! Stay safe on the trails and leave no trace.

Where to stay: Check out all our UP Michigan lodging for our favorite Airbnb's, Campsites and more! We will give suggestions below each day of where to stay! Where to eat: Check out all our UP Michigan restaurants here! Camping to save money? Check our our meal plan here. Below each day we will put what restaurant is close by.

Day 1: Mackinac Island Day -

We have been to this Island a few times now with different experiences! Check out the info we have for you here.

Day 2:

Tahquamenon Falls -

There is an upper and a lower falls. Be sure and try and hit up Browns Fishery while you are in this area!

Day 3 & 4 morning:

Pictured Rocks Lakeshore- The only way to see Picture Rocks is by Boat, Kayak or a long Hike. We suggest taking a day and a half in this area. One day enjoying everything along the lake shore (short hikes to waterfalls, dunes, lighthouse and more) and end that evening in Munising taking the sunset Boat Tour of Pictured rocks. That's not enough though! The next morning get up and head over to Chapel Loop Trail for our absolute favorite hike in all of Michigan! More info about it here.

Head out on Day 4 afternoon towards Houghton, Michigan. We stayed at the beautiful Cabins by the Course - Be sure and stop for a pasty along the way! We are still finding our favorite spots -what's yours?

We also drove up on a beautiful trail, that come to find out is pretty popular around here!

Day 5

Porcupine Wilderness State Park

This park is filled with beautiful waterfalls and trails! Be sure and plan at least a day if not more here. We opted out of the long hikes and did many of the shorter ones.

Bond Falls To end the day we headed here. It was a perfect place to end our adventures as we were exhausted... Breathing in the fresh air and dipping our toes in the water right below this magnificent Waterfall was incredible! Click here for more info on Bond Falls.

Day 6

Head towards Marquette, MI to

Sugarloaf Mountain (Wetmoore Landing Trail) - This is our 2nd favorite hike in Michigan :) Moderate Trail - check out more info here!

Kitch-iti-kipi Lake & Raft Ride -

This unique experience is like none other! You not only can enjoy the most beautiful clear Springs, the kids can pull you across the Springs in a raft! All for free :) Be sure and check it out in the summer or winter.

WE CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO TAKE YOUR UP ADVENTURE!
