in ILLINOIIS

Wow, we love this area and want to visit every season :) Its wildlife, waterfalls, caves, and trails have an adventure for every age! Starved Rock State Park is located 2 hours outside of Chicago and is the perfect place to get out and hike. The beautiful waterfalls and cave-like structures are just stunning.

WHERE TO STAY (Camping, lodges & more)

FAVORITE HIKES:

Lover's Leap Overlook: Lover's Leap Overlook Trail is a 1.7 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Oglesby, Illinois that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.

Saint Louis Canyon Trail: Saint Louis Canyon Trail is a 2.1 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Utica, Illinois that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking

Starved Rock and Sandstone Point Overlook Trail: Starved Rock and Sandstone Point Overlook Trail is a 4.3 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Oglesby, Illinois that features a lake and is rated as moderate. Some of these hikes can be cut short from different parking lots. Be sure and check-in when you get there and they will give you all the tips to make some trails and vista sites easier to see.
