Feel free to look around at specific packs we've used. These are just some tips as you look at any carrier pack, what to look for.
*Check the weights it can carry - make sure if you are investing in a pack you know what weights for your child. Our child has used a pack from 0-4 (yes she's small for her age, but still!).
*Check your child's body type. While weight is very important the way they sit in the pack could be different from one child to another. When buying a pack I bring with the kids with me and have them get in! Remember - just cuz they are crying doesn't mean they don't like it. They are just getting used to it too! Just check all the pads, where their head is, etc.
*Know the carriers body type! Your build, torso, legs, waist- everything plays into it! What is great for one person could be horrible for another. A pack we had for a while my husband was fine with but I couldn't stand it- the straps ere wide but landed right on my pressure points causing pain every hike! Not cool- do your OWN body research!
*Think through your child's future! This is normally an investment for a while. Think though if you will be in rainy areas, want you kid to wear hats or have a cover from the sun, etc!
Main Point: Brand name doesn't always mean the best brand! We have done miles in a 'cheap' brand and our daughter couldn't love hiking more! Make sure it's what works for you & your child!
