Once you get your tent sometimes it's so hard to know what you need inside. Here is what we've used and what works for our fam of four (with kids too)
Sleeping Pads: We have used many different ones and not a fan of most. Our favorite is Wenzels HERE. You can find different styles and sizes. We love it because the material is hardcore GOOD! So many of our mattresses pop so easily and you'll find yourself on the ground and sleeping horribly. Also easy to pump up from the car.
Sleeping bags: We only use sleeping bags when it gets chilly. We normally bring a sleeping bag or to along just incase it gets cold even in the summer (we are from Michigan so weather is not to be trusted). When things are warm we mostly only want a sheet or something light weight over us. However most of the year we LOVE our Wenzel comfy sleeping bags here. These will keep you toasty and happy! These are bulky so wouldn't be great for backpacking. Our kids sleeping bags here.
Luggage : You want something soft and squish-able because you are normally trying to fit in a lot of things for camping in a small area. We love our Walker Family Goods bags for all things camping and traveling. See here more info.
How to remember the extras: We always forget something camping so we have learned we need to have a crate full of just camping gear. This has helped solve many of those 'oh shoot we forgot the spatula' moments!
Gas Camping Stove: Our main way of cooking when we are camping in a campervan or tent is with our propane tanked stove top. As I, Care, am not a great fire maker but breakfast maker it is nice to get breakfast going before everyone wakes up! Also other benefits (no fire bans/etc.) will always get your food cooked this way!
Breeo Fire Pit: A great simi portable fire-pit is the Breeo . It has hundreds of cooking possibilities and they will keep you updated on all the ideas of how to cook on Instagram!
Open flamed fires are always so fun to cook over! Here are some tools to help with this style of cooking:
